Classic Handvo / Steamed Rice Lentils Cake

Handvo (Gujarati:હડવ) is a vegetable cake made with Rice and lentils. It is a part of the Gujarati cuisine. It is often made with a bottle gourd (Hindi: लक, Gujarati દધ), though many other vegetables like cabbage, carrot, zucchini, potato can be added.

Ingredients

Tuvar dal 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Chana dal 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Urad dal 2 Tablespoon
Yogurt 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Oil 6 Tablespoon
Water 3 Tablespoon
Sugar 1/2 Teaspoon
Curry leaves sprig 4
Baking powder 1/3 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Dhaniya jeera powder 1 Teaspoon
Green chilli To Taste
Ginger To Taste
Ground peanut 1 Tablespoon
Cabbage 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Carrot 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , grated
Zucchini 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , grated
Mustard 1 Teaspoon
Hing 1 Pinch
Sesame seeds 1 Tablespoon
