Experiment a little bit with the regular Idlis and learn how to make Kheema Idli in Kerala Style.
|Cumin seeds||1 Teaspoon|
|Onion||1 , finely chopped|
|Green chillies||3 , finely chopped|
|Ginger garlic paste||1/2 Teaspoon|
|Turmeric powder||1/2 Teaspoon|
|Chilli powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Garam masala||1 Teaspoon|
|Cumin powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Tomato||1 , finely chopped|
|Minced chicken||200 Gram|
|Idli batter||1/2 Kilogram|
|Finely chopped fresh coriander||1 Tablespoon|
|Water||1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (Plus extra for steam)|
FOR THE KHEEMA:
1.Heat oil in a pan, then add cumin seeds. Once the seeds splutter, add onions and let them cook.
2.Add green chillies and ginger garlic paste and keep stirring the mixture.
3.Add all the spices turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala and cumin powder.
4.Add tomatoes and some water and mash them well and let them cook.
5.Add chicken mince and combine it with the spices. Let it cook for some time.
6.Add some fresh coriander leaves and allow the kheemsa to cool.
FOR THE IDLIS:
1.Lightly grease the idli moulds with oil.
2.Add a layer of idli batter in the idli maker vessel. Over that add the layer of kheema.
3.Add the second layer of batter over the kheema and cover it well.
4.Add water to the steamer and let it heat.
5.Steam the idlis for 8 to 10 minutes on high flame.
6.Check if the idlis are cooked by piercing them with a fork.
7.Chicken Kheema Idli is ready to be served.
