Spot Idli - Unique And Crispy Hyderabadi Recipe Using Idly Rava And Dal Batter

In this video, we will make Spot Idli Recipe, which is a very popular street food in Hyderabad. This soft and crispy idli is cooked on a tawa, in butter and spices unlike a regular idli which is steamed unflavored. The idli batter is made from Idli Rawa or Cream of Rice and Skinless Black Gram aka Urad Dal.


For spot idli batter:
Idli rava ( cream of rice ) 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Split urad dal 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (skinless)
Fenugreek seeds 1 Teaspoon
Poha 3 Tablespoon
Water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
Salt 1 Teaspoon
For karam podi:
Chana dal 2 Tablespoon
Coriander seeds 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Fenugreek seeds 1/2 Teaspoon
Urad dal 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Mustard seeds 1 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 Tablespoon
Ghee 1/4 Teaspoon
Garlic 4 Clove (20 gm) , dice
Curry leaves 5
Tamarind pieces 4
Kashmiri red chilli powder 3 Tablespoon
Salt 1 Tablespoon
For spot idli:
Chopped onion 2 Tablespoon
Chopped coriander leaves 1 Tablespoon
Chopped tomatoes 2 Tablespoon
Chopped green chilli 1/2 Teaspoon
Karam podi 1 Tablespoon
Butter 4 Tablespoon
