Unsweetened baking chocolate squares | 2 Ounce (2 (1 | |
Butter | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (at room temperature) | |
Light brown sugar | 2/3 Cup (10.67 tbs) , firmly packed | |
White granulated sugar | 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs) | |
Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Eggs | 1 | |
All purpose flour | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
Sour cream | 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (you can use plain yogurt) | |
Red food coloring | 6 Drop (or as needed) | |
Semisweet chocolate chips | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Cooking oil spray | 1/2 Teaspoon (as needed for greasing) |
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
2. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and spray with cooking oil spray. Set aside.
MAKING
3. In a small bowl, place baking chocolate and pop in microwave on LOW for 30 seconds. Remove from oven and stir. Repeat the process until chocolate is melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
4. In a large bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat until smooth.
5. Add baking soda, salt and egg. Beat until smooth, scraping sides as and when needed.
6. Gradually add melted chocolate and beat into the mixture.
7. Add 1 cup of the flour, beating thoroughly, scraping sides as needed. Stir in sour cream and beat until smooth. Add remaining cup of flour and beat until smooth.
8. Beat in red food coloring, using as much as needed. Stir in chocolate chips.
9. Drop batter by tablespoons onto the prepared baking pan.
10. Pop the pan in oven and bake for about 8 minutes. Immediately remove baked cookies from oven and use a spatula to transfer them to cooling racks.
SERVING
11. Frost the tops of the cookies, if desired and serve.
