In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Sausage-Sage-Cornbread Dressing. This is a fabulous Southern-style dressing for serving with pork loin or a Thanksgiving turkey!
Pork sausage | 1/2 Pound | |
Cornbread | 1 Pound , crumbled (8 | |
Herb seasoned stuffing mix | 7 Ounce (Pepperidge Farm) | |
Butter stick | 1 (1/2 cup) | |
Celery ribs | 2 , chopped finely | |
White onion | 1 Medium , chopped | |
Fresh parsley | 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs) , finely chopped | |
Rubbed sage | 1 Tablespoon | |
Chicken broth | 7 Cup (112 tbs) (more or less as needed) | |
Cooking oil spray | 1 Teaspoon (for greasing) |
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
2. Grease two baking dish with cooking oil spray and set aside.
MAKING
3. In a deep skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, stirring constantly. Drain and remove excess grease using paper towels. Set aside.
4. In a medium sized skillet, melt butter, add celery, onion and saute until onion is clear. Set aside.
5. In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, herb-seasoned stuffing mix, sausage, sautéed celery and onion, parsley, and sage. Mix well.
6. Pour chicken broth into the bowl, mix until well combined and spread into greased baking dish. Pop the dish in oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until beginning to brown on top and edges.
SERVING
7. Remove from oven and serve immediately with turkey.
