No need to travel all the way to New Orleans for these tasty treats. You can make them right at home.

All purpose flour | 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs) (((375 mL))) | |

Vegetable oil | 2 Tablespoon | |

Icing sugar | 3 Tablespoon (((as needed for dusting))) |
GETTING READY
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine water, sugar, and yeast. Mix well and let sit until foamy.
2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, and salt. Mix well.
3. Into the yeast mixture add egg and 2 tablespoons of oil. Add flour mixture and stir together until dough comes together. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
MAKING
4. On well-floured counter, place the dough and press into a rough rectangle, flipping to coat with flour. Roll the dough into ¼-inch thick rectangle shape.
5. Using pizza wheel, cut dough into 12 -16 square pieces.
6. In a Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high flame until it reaches 350 degree F.
7. Fry beignets in oil for about 3 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through frying. Fry 3 beignets at a time and do not over crowd. Maintain oil temperature between 325 and 350 degrees.
8. Remove from oil and place on cooling rack.
SERVING
9. Dust with icing sugar and serve immediately.
