As we discussed our dining options it quickly became apparently we had a clamoring for western food and almost immediately we jumped on our bikes and pedaled down a main street en route to Dingo Deli for what is considered the best sandwich in all of Hoi An, Vietnam. Ordering a club sandwich and salmon with cream cheese option we sat patiently waiting outside at our table for our food to arrive. Although we both love Asian interpretations of sandwiches and baguettes, it's just as comforting having a familiar western/European one. As the waitress brought it over I couldn't help but notice the gargantuan portions of both of our sandwiches. Although, my days of dieting were in effect, I could hardly resist not at least attempting to finish everything on the plate. We could barely grip the sandwiches properly to hoist them up to our faces to take a proper bite - just the kind of food we adore ) When ordering initially our eyes were certainly bigger than our stomachs and when a massive slab of carrot cake along with an even bigger slice of apple crumble pie arrived at our table I couldn't help but smile. This was the ultimate instance of a diet fail however, we enjoyed every bite eating foods from back home we haven't had in ages while on the road. I suppose sometimes you do really have to treat yourself once in a while. After finally finishing the cake I went to seize the bill for our meal which came to a whopping 21 USD! This was easily our most expensive meal in Vietnam coming in at close to double, triple or even quadruple of what we'd normally pay. Although this would be nothing back home, it's certainly a massive splurge in Vietnam where street food typically costs only 1-2 and restaurants meals between 2-4 per person. Although our wallet felt lighter we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and relished every bite. This is part of our Travel in Vietnam series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Vietnamese culture, Vietnamese arts, Vietnamese foods, Vietnamese religion and Vietnamese people.
