This video offers a few useful tips for making good corn bread at home.
One of the first things to do is deciding upon the proportion of the baking powder and the baking soda, which helps in raising and then leavening the cornbread.
As the corn bread cooks, the skillet has to be given a slight shake from time to time to see if it is loose in and around the middle, as the bread in the centre is supposed to shrink and tighten as it cooks further.
When cooking the corn bread with bacon, it is advisable to use as little butter as possible as the bacon grease itself gets the corn bread quite moist.
