George Calombaris

George Calombaris is an exuberant Australian Chef who is among the 40 most influential Chefs in the world. He is also a globally famed restaurateur.

 

The initial training of cooking for Chef George Calombaris was started in his house kitchen where his mother and grandmother used to cook classical Cypriot and Greek dishes.

 

Being a Chef, George Calombaris had won many national and international recognitions in the form of awards. Though he is the owner of three restaurants and his signature recipes are famous worldwide, George is best known as Master Chef Australia Judge.

 

Professional Life of Chef George Calombaris

Born in Australia on 4th October, 1978, George Calombaris had started his epicurean journey from Hotel Sofitel under the guidance of Raymond Capaldi in Melbourne. His apprenticeship under the expert supervision had led him to get success in the field of cookery.

 

Gary Mehigan, Sous Chef at Hotel Sofitel; Raymond Kapaldi and Goerge Calombaris teamed up together to initiate ‘Fenix’. This is the place where Chef Goerge Calombaris had worked for at least two years and learned some great cookery skills. Being an Australian Chef, George had also represented his country in the grand prix of cooking called ‘Bocuse d’Or’ in France.

 

The list of the accolades won by George Calombaris is quiet large and his contribution towards the culinary world is also noteworthy.

  • The Press Club – This is known to be the flagship restaurant for George Calombaris. The restaurant was opened in 2006
  • Maha Bar and Grill – Goerge opened this restaurant with Chef Shane Delia in 2008.
  • Hellenic Republic– Along with Chef Travis McAuley, Goerge had opened this restaurant in 2008.
  • The Belvedere Club – This is the first international restaurant opened by George Calombaris in 2008 at Mykonos, a Greek Island.
