Lamb Noodle

Lamb noodle refers to a dish comprising lamb fillets and noodles as the main ingredients. The dish is considered to be healthy in nature due to presence of lamb, which is rich in protein. There are a few recipe variations of this dish which are explained in terms of ingredients used and method or preparation; however, the main ingredients, i.e. lamb and noodles, remain the same in all the recipe variations.

 

 Lamb Noodles Recipe Overview

The basic recipe for preparing lamb noodles suggest the use of shredded lamb, along with other ingredients which include noodles, egg, cornstarch, water, peanut oil, soy sauce, salt, green onions, chicken stock, dry sherry or rice wine, and sesame oil.

 

Shredded lamb (prepared by cutting lamb in the form of thin strips) is combined with a mix of water, egg, salt, and cornstarch, and stir fried in peanut oil for a few minutes, before adding green onions, soy sauce, chicken stock, rice wine, sesame oil, and boiled noodles. The dish is cooked for a few minutes before serving it hot.

  

Popular Lamb Noodles Recipe Variations

A couple of popular variations are discussed hereunder:

 

  • Oriental Lamb with Black Bean Sauce and Egg Noodles- this lamb noodle dish is made by combining stir fried lamb (dusted with corn flour) with other ingredients consisting of chicken stock, egg noodles, black beans sauce, leeks, sweet corn, sherry, coriander leaves, and soy sauce.

 

  • Lamb Noodle Stroganoff Recipe- a mix of cooked lamb, tomato sauce, pepper, and salt is prepared and poured over already boiled noodles placed in baking tray. Thereafter, the meat mixture is topped with a mix of sour cream and cream cheese, and the tray is placed in oven for around half an hour. The dish is served hot after sprinkling paprika and cheese on the top.  

 

Popular Lamb Noodle Dishes

A couple of dishes consisting of lamb and noodle as the essential ingredients are discussed below:

 

  • Lamb noodle salad- this lamb and noodle salad is prepared by combining together cooked lamb, boiled noodles, cooked beans, carrots, red onion, celery, and baby corn, and tossing them in a dressing made by combining together evaporated milk, coconut essence, peanut butter, soy sauce, and sweet chilli sauce.  

 

  • Lamb noodle soup- lamb is cooked in a mix of green onions, garlic, ginger, star anise, cilantro stems, ground chilies, and five spice. The meat is removed from the bones, when cooked properly. The soup is made by combining together meat broth, garlic, green onions, red chilli, and cumin. Boiled noodle and boneless pieces of meat are put in the broth, and the soup is served hot. Alternatively, the broth can be refrigerated for a night before reheating it and combining it with noodles and lamb.
