Reuben is a sandwich, which is eaten hot. It is made of meat, which is layered, sauerkraut, and cheese especially of Swiss and served with a dressing. He invented Reuben sandwiches. This sandwich became famous very fast in North America and in Europe. This sandwich is loved by everyone and is served as an appetizer and snacks.
ORIGIN OF REUBEN RECIPE
The Reuben’s sandwich origin is murky but it is said that it is originated in United States. Reuben recipe is named after Arthur Reuben. It was first invented in the New York restaurant of Arnold who is the son of Arthur Reuben. This sandwich became world famous in all over the world especially in North America.
INGREDIENTS AND METHODS OF PREPARING REUBEN
The basic ingredients of Reuben sandwich are Jewish rye bread which should not be sliced, slice corned beef, dressing done in Russian style, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and butter. The initial stage of preparing Reuben recipe is by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The corned beef should be sprinkled with water in little quantity. The meat should be wrapped tightly in an aluminum foil and later it should be steamed in oven. In Reuben sandwich, the entire loaf of rye bread is put into the oven. The bread is baked for about 15 minutes until its crust becomes crunchy. The bread is set on the counter and is cooled for at least 5 minutes approx. The rye bread is cooled entirely so that it is handled onto a cutting board.
The bread is to be cut by a bread knife into 12 slices. The corned beef is taken out of the oven and it is unwrapped. For preparing Reuben recipe, each piece of bread is topped with a Russian dressing. The half of the slices is layered with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese should be sliced. Later, Reuben sandwiches are topped with breads which were left over. Two large skillets should be heated in medium heat. The bread is brushed with butter. The sandwiches are put into a pan. Then they are weighted with a lid. Reuben is cooked until the first sides turn crisps and becomes golden. It is kept for about 7 minutes and then the sandwiches are flipped. Then the second side are cooked until it is well-toasted and the cheese starts melting.

VARIATIONS OF REUBEN
There are many variations of Reuben sandwich. In this sandwich, instead corned beef ham can be used for the preparation. If ham is used then the sandwich is known as Deviled-ham. Other variation is Rachel sandwich which is a standard Reuben sandwich which includes pastrami instead the corned beef and coleslaw instead the sauerkraut. Even instead rye bread, pumpernickel bread can be used. Georgia or Southern Reuben is a turkey variant in Michigan. Here for Reuben recipe, dressing is done by using barbecue sauce and not using Russian or Thousand Island. Reuben’s egg roll is known as Irish egg rolls or Reuben balls which is made of corned beef, sauerkraut and cheese mixture is filled inside it and then the wrapper is deep-fried.
