Vegetables add a unique twist to these scrumptious cheese straws. Good way of including vegetables to your kid's diet. Brimming with protein, fibre and calcium -- this recipes is definitely better than those fried snack!

Ingredients

Grated processed cheese 2 Tablespoon
Finely chopped mixed vegetables 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (carrot , capsicum and celery)
Whole wheat flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Salt To Taste
Soft butter 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
For dusting
Whole wheat flour 1 Tablespoon (For dusting)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. In a bowl, sieve the flour, add salt and mix well.

2. Rub the butter into the flour, with the help of your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumb.

3. Add mixed vegetables and cheese. Mix well, and then pour ice cold water (approx 4 tablespoons). Knead into semi-stiff dough.

4. Divide the dough into 3 equal portions and keep aside.

5. Preheat oven to 180 degree C or 360 degree F.

MAKING

6. On lightly floured surface, place a portion of the dough and flatten it.

7. Roll into a 5-inch diameter round and cut them vertically into medium sized strips. Repeat the process for the remaining dough.

8. On ungreased baking tray, place the strips and bake for 40 minutes, turn the strips once after 20 minutes.

SERVING

9. Serve immediately or cool and store in an air-tight container.
