Holiday Series: Turnip Greens with Turnips & Ham Hocks

I decided to take this opportunity to show you how I make my Turnip Greens with Turnips. Turnips are a really easy vegetable to work with and they're also great mashed into potatoes. Turnip Greens really cook down so If you're going to make this recipe for a large crowd you'll need to double or even triple it. Be sure and check out other recipes in the Holiday Series Playlist.

Ingredients

Water 2 Quart
Smoked ham hocks 2
Garlic 3 Clove (15 gm) , minced (2 to 3)
Onion 1/2 Large , sliced
Turnip greens 45 Cup (720 tbs) , cleaned, rinsed and trimmed
All purpose seasoning 1 Tablespoon
Salt 1 Pinch
Chili pepper vinegar 2 Tablespoon
Turnip 1 Medium , cut into inch cubes

Directions

MAKING

1. In a large stock pot, bring the water and ham hocks to a low simmer over medium heat with a lid for an hour.

2. Place the greens, onions, and garlic into the pot with the ham hocks.

3. Season with all-purpose seasoning, kosher salt, and vinegar. Cook over medium-high heat with a lid for about 45 minutes to an hour.

4. Add in turnips to the greens and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the greens reach the desired tenderness.

SERVING

5. Garnish with tomatoes and onion and serve.
