Rutabaga Au Gratin

Butter/Margarine 6 Tablespoon
All purpose flour
Milk 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Salt To Taste
Pepper To Taste
Diced rutabaga 4 Cup (64 tbs) , cooked
Soft bread crumbs 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)



1) Preheat the oven to 400°F.


1) In a small saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter. Stir in the flour and whisk constantly so no lumps remain.

2) Slowly, pour in the milk. Turn down the flame and continue stirring till you get a smooth and thick mixture.

3) Mix in the cheese and stir till it melts in. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.

4) In a 1 1/2-quart shallow, baking dish arrange the rutabaga dices in a single layer.

5) Pour the prepared cream sauce evenly over it.

6) In a small bowl, mix bread crumbs with the leftover butter. Sprinkle the mixture over the layer of sauce.

7) Bake for about 15 minutes.


8) Serve the Rutabaga Au Gratin hot. Sprinkle more cheddar cheese on top, if desired.
