Stuffed Tomatoes Au Gratin

Ingredients

Tomatoes 4 Large
Fresh peas 1 1/2 Pound
Onion 1
Oil 2 Tablespoon
Flour 2 Tablespoon
Butter 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Grated cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Soft bread crumbs 1 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY

1) Preheat the oven to the temperature of 400°.

2) Cut the tomatoes into halves and scoop out the flesh.

3) Discard the tomatoe seeds and chop the flesh.

4) Shell the peas.

5) Peel the onions and finely chop.

MAKING

6) In a skillet, heat the oil and fry the onion till transparent.

7) Add the peas, cover and cook for 5 minutes.

8) Add the chopped tomato flesh, season it and continue cooking, covered, for 10 minutes.

9) Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt the butter.

10) Add flour and cook for 1 minute.

11) Slowly stir in the milk and bring to a boil, stirring until thickened.

12) Mix three-quarters of the cheese into the sauce with the pea mixture.

13) Fill the tomato halves with the mixture and arrange in an ovenproof dish.

14) Mix the remaining cheese with the bread crumbs and sprinkle over the tomatoes.

15) Bake toamtoes for 20 minutes.

SERVING

16) Serve the baked stuffed tomatoes as side dish.
