Barry Lewis is back showing you how to make fantastic food. This week he shows you how to make this sticky golden syrup sponge cake, perfect for impressing your friends and family.
Butter | 220 Gram | |
Caster sugar | 220 Gram | |
Golden syrup | 450 Gram (plus little extra) | |
Self raising flour | 450 Gram | |
Eggs | 2 | |
Milk | 300 Milliliter |
GETTING READY:
Preheat oven to 150°C.
Line baking tray with baking sheet.
MAKING:
Heat a pan and melt butter in it. Add syrup, sugar and stir occasionally until ingredients melt. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, whisk milk with eggs. Add flour and egg mixture to syrup. Mix well.
Pour the mixture into greased tin and pop into oven.
Bake for 50 minutes and slice once cooled.
Drizzle golden syrup over the cake before serving
