Bourbon Street Steak & Blackened Shrimp

A nice thick rib eye steak that I semi blackened, and then grilled. Topped with a Jack Daniels Peppercorn Sauce, and blackened gulf shrimp! The flavors will knock your socks off to say the least! A must try for anyone who enjoys a surf turf, and has access to fresh shrimp!


Gulf shrimp 12 Large , devein
Rib eye steak 2
Pepper To Taste
Blackening seasoning 1 Tablespoon
Old bay seasoning 1 Tablespoon (blackening seasoning)
Melted butter 4 Tablespoon
For the bourbon sauce
Red onion 1 Small , chopped finely
Garlic clove 4 , minced
Jack daniels 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Beef broth 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Worcestershire sauce 1/8 Cup (2 tbs)
Butter 4 Tablespoon
Coarsely crushed pepper corns To Taste



1. Prepare the grill

2. In a pan, put the melted butter and place the steak in it. Coat the steak lightly on both sides. Remove and set aside in a plate. Repeat the process with the other steak.

3. Rub the steaks with black pepper on both sides. Coat evenly with blackening seasoning.

4. In a bowl, combine the shrimp with old bay blackening seasoning and black pepper. Now pour the left over melted butter on top and mix well, set aside.


5. In an iron skillet put about a tablespoon of butter and place the steak in it. Allow to cook for about a minute on each side. Transfer the steak to indirect heat.

6. For the bourbon sauce, In the same skillet (in which the steak was browned) put the onions and garlic. Saute for a few minutes.

7. Now carefully add the Jack Daniels Bourbon and light it using a long liter. Allow to flambe for a while and gradually stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Add the coarsely ground black pepper. Let the sauce reduce a bit.

8. Gradually add the butter, one tablespoon at a time and allow it to melt into the sauce.

9. For the blackened shrimp: Place the prepared shrimps in a grill basket and allow to cook on the grill until done.


10. Place the steak on the plate and pour the Bourbon sauce on top. Arrange the shrimps on it and serve hot.
