Shrimp and Grits

his breakfast dish will bring you the most delicious morning flavor experience ever -- I gar-on-tee!


For grits
Milk 4 Cup (64 tbs)
Instant grits 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Cheddar 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs) , shredded
Salt 1/2 Tablespoon
Black pepper To Taste , freshly grounded
For sauce
Butter 2 Tablespoon
Tasso ham 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , cubed
Yellow onion 1/2 , diced
Anaheim pepper 1 , chopped
Dried marjoram 1 Teaspoon
Smoked paprika 2 Pinch
Cumin powder 2 Pinch
Chili flakes To Taste
Salt To Taste
Canned crushed tomatoes 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Shrimps 100 Gram
For egg
Butter 4 Tablespoon
Eggs 4
Salt and pepper To Taste
Green onion 4 Tablespoon , finely chopped



1. In a saucepan pour in the milk and boil on high heat.

2. Add in the instant grit, whisking continuously and turn the heat to medium – high. Cook for few minutes.

3. Add in the cheddar and cook for few minutes.

4. Season with salt and pepper and stir the grits. Cook for couple of minutes. Set aside.

5. In a frying pan add in the butter and melt on high heat.

6. Add in the tasso ham, onion and pepper. Sauté for few minutes.

7. Season with marjoram, smoked paprika, chili flakes and salt. Stir in the crushed tomatoes. Turn the stove to medium – low and cook sauce for 10 minutes.

8. Place the shrimps into the sauce and cover pan with lid. Cook for 5 minutes.

9. Take of the lid and flip the shrimps, cook for another 5 minutes. Set aside.

10. In a shallow pan add in the butter and melt. Break the egg and place. Season with salt and pepper and cook for few seconds.


11. In a serving bowl place the grits, top with shrimps and sauce, followed by eggs. Garnish with green onions and serve.
