Chicha Morada

We fell in love with this drink here in Cusco, Peru...Chicha Morada is a purple corn drink that is super high in resveratrol. Purple corn 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Water 4 Cup (64 tbs)
Cinnamon sticks 3
Whole cloves 2
Lemon 1 Medium , juiced
Apple juice 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Pineapple juice 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
For serving
Apple 1 Tablespoon , chopped finely



1. In a pot, put the purple corn kernels and cover it with water.

2. Put cinnamon sticks and cloves.

3. Bring it to boil and simmer on low heat for 1 hour.

4. Strain it into a large bowl and let it cool completely.

5. Add lemon juice, apple juice and pine apple juice to it and mix well.


6. In serving glass, pour the drink and serve it garnished with apple pieces.


To enhance the taste, star anise and cardamom can also be added to it.

Traditionally sugar is added when the drink is hot.
