Make Colombian buñuelos Navideños for Christmas! These are a cheese fritter that are delicious with hot chocolate or natilla, or just on their own. Gracias a Cristina por la receta!
Finely grated salty cheese | 1/2 Pound ((2 cups)) | |
Cornstarch | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
Yuca flour | 2 Tablespoon ((tapioca)) | |
Milk | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Sugar | 2 Teaspoon | |
Eggs | 2 | |
Baking powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
Salt | 1 Pinch | |
Oil | 4 Cup (64 tbs) ((peanut, canola, For deep frying)) |
MAKING:
In a large bowl, combine cheese, cornstarch, yucca starch, milk, sugar, eggs, baking powder, salt and mix well to form pliable dough.
Take small portions and shape into 1-1 ½ inch balls.
Heat oil to 325°F/160°C in a deep fryer and fry the dough balls for 10-12 minutes until it turns golden brown or floats to top. Drain excess oil using paper towels.
