Maize Shortbread

Maize 4 Ounce (115 gram)
Whole meal flour 4 Ounce (115 gram)
White fat 4 Ounce (115 gram)
Syrup 2 Tablespoon



1) Take a bowl and combine together maize meal and whole meal flour.

2) Rub fat into the flour mixture.

3) Stir in syrup followed by adequate amount of water to form soft dough.

4) Take a baking tin of 1 3/4 inch (2 cm) thickness and grease it.

5) Spread out dough in it and smoothen the top. Impress with a pattern, if desired.

6) Bake the shortbread in the oven for about 25-30 minutes at 375°F/190°C (Gas Mark 5).


7) Allow the shortbread to cool down completely. Cut into wedge-shaped pieces and serve.
