This homemade caramel sauce is SO easy to make, and you don't even need a thermometer to make it! You can drizzle the caramel on ice cream, cheesecake, and many other desserts, or use it for coffee drinks. I love making my own Caramel Macchiatos. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Water 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Butter 2 Tablespoon
Heavy cream 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon

Directions

MAKING

1. In a heavy bottomed pan, combine the sugar and water. Cook the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

2. Raise the heat to medium high, and cook until the mixture turns amber colored.

3. Add in the butter and wait a few seconds to melt and stop sputtering.

4. Remove the pan from the heat, and add the heavy cream and vanilla extract. It will bubble up violently but will calm down within 5-10 seconds.

5. Let the caramel sauce cool, and then transfer to a container.

SERVING

6. Serve over ice cream, coffee, or cheesecake and enjoy!
