Turnips In Cheese Sauce

Turnips 4 Medium , peeled and sliced
Butter/Margarine 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
All purpose flour 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Half and half 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Shredded process american cheese 4 Ounce (1 cup)
Minced chives 1 Tablespoon



1. In a saucepan place the turnips. Add water, cover the saucepan and boil.

2. Cook for 10 minutes till the turnips are crisp and tender. Drain excess water.

3. In a heavy saucepan add butter and melt it on low heat.

4. Add flour and still to get a smooth consistency. Cook 1 minute stirring continuously so that lumps are not formed.

5. Slowly add half and half and cook over average heat till the sauce thickens and gets bubbly.

6. Add cheese and stir till it melts.


7. Pour sauce on turnips and stir well.


8. Serve turnips in cheese sauce garnished with chives.
