My Bolognese Sauce recipe made with beef, bacon, red wine and tomato puree. This rich, meaty spaghetti sauce goes great over linguine or spaghetti or use it to make lasagne or baked ziti. Extra Bolognese sauce freezes well for future quick meals.
Bacon/Pancetta /2 tablespoons olive oil | 1 Ounce , minced | |
Olive oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
Onion | 1 Large , minced | |
Carrots | 2 , minced | |
Celery stalks | 2 , minced | |
Minced garlic | 1 Tablespoon | |
Ground beef/Half beef, half pork | 1 Pound | |
Red wine | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Tomato puree | 4 Cup (64 tbs) | |
Dried oregano | 2 Teaspoon | |
Dried basil | 1 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Black pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon |
MAKING:
In a deep saucepan, sauté bacon with oil until bacon gets cooked and fat is rendered.
Add onions, celery, carrots and cook until veggies turn soft, approximately 10-15 minutes.
Add garlic and cook for few seconds.
Add meat and cook until it is browned.
Add wine and cook until it reduces to half.
Add tomato puree, oregano, basil, salt and black pepper.
Cover with a lid and allow to simmer for 1 hour.
SERVING:
Serve with pasta or lasagne and enjoy!
