Roasted Apple and Cheese Sandwich

Here comes yet another filling and tasty sandwich for a lazy Sunday morning. Bread is French toasted and then given roasted apple and cheese filling, with a bit of organic mixed fruit jam smeared over. You can even serve it as a snack or with little bit more of thought going into it, this is good to be served as a dessert too!

Ingredients

For roasting apple
Apple 2 Medium , peeled, seeded and thinly sliced
Melted butter 1 Tablespoon (I used salted)
Demerara sugar 1/2 Tablespoon
For the french toast batter
Eggs 2 Small
Fresh cream/Milk 1 Tablespoon
Vanilla essence 1/4 Teaspoon
Ground pepper powder 1 Pinch
Salt To Taste
For assembling
Whole wheat bread slices 4
Mixed fruit jam 1/2 Teaspoon , divided (organic)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Grease a baking pan with oil or butter. Mix together sliced apples, butter and sugar well.

2. Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius and roast apples for 20-25 min until most of the moisture is gone and apples are brown and roasted. Keep aside.

MAKING

3. Beat together the ingredients for French toast batter.

4. Heat a pan on high. Working one pair at a time, dip bread in the batter and put on the pan. Turn over when browned and lower heat to minimum.

FINALIZING

When the heat is still at low and the breads are in the pan -

5. Spread ½ the roasted apples over one of the slices in pan and place a slice of cheese over it. Remove the other to smear it with ¼ teaspoon mixed fruit jam.

6. Return the other to top the apple and cheese topped slice. Press it so that the pieces stick together. Remove from heat.

7. Cut the sandwich into half and simply sit back and enjoy and yes, you will want more than a slice for the love of it!
