Fruit and Lettuce Salad by Tarla Dalal

A salad brimming with vitamin c and fibre from assorted fruits and lettuce. With an additional vitamin c from the lemony dressing, this salad qualifies to meet almost 3/4th of your daily requirement for vitamin C.

Ingredients

Iceberg lettuce 1 Cup (16 tbs) , torn into pieces
Papaya cubes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Grapes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Orange segments 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , cut into halves
Guava cubes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Strawberry 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , cut into quarters
Watermelon cubes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
For dressing
Lemon juice 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Honey 2 Tablespoon
Dry red chili flakes 1 Teaspoon (Optional)
For garnish
Toasted almond slivers 1 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY

For Dressing:

1. In a small bowl, combine lemon juice, honey, and red chili flakes. Mix well and set aside.

MAKING

2. In a large bowl, add lettuce, papaya, grapes, orange segments, guava, strawberries, and watermelon. Mix well.

3. Pour the dressing into the bowl and toss well.

SERVING

4. Garnish with almonds and serve immediately or refrigerate for at least 1 hour and serve chilled.
