Cheesy Beef and Bacon Sausage Rolls is a delicious variation on the classic Sausage Roll. Beef sausage meat is combined with bacon, cheese, onion, fresh thyme and breadcrumbs. Formed into logs and enveloped in puff pastry, these golden, flakey treats are perfect for parties or as a snack - give it a go!
Rolled puff pastry sheets | 2 , cut into 4 even shapes (frozen) | |
Beef sausages | 6 , casings removed (thick) | |
Bacon rashers | 3 , chopped (Middle Cut, rind removed) | |
Brown onion | 1 Small , chopped | |
Grated cheddar cheese | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Fresh breadcrumbs | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Milk | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Freshly chopped thyme | 1 Teaspoon | |
Freshly cracked black pepper | To Taste | |
Beaten egg | 1 |
GETTING READY:
Preheat oven to 220°C.
Line baking tray with parchment paper.
MAKING:
In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, milk and stir well. Allow to stand for 2 minutes.
Add sausages, onion, bacon rashers, cheese, thyme, pepper and mix well.
Roll out as shown in the video.
Place on baking tray and brush with beaten egg.
Pop into oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Once done, allow to cool for 5 minutes.
