In this video, my husband, Rick, and I traveled to Midway, Kentucky to have lunch at 815 Prime. Midway is a town in Kentucky that is half-way between Lexington and Frankfort, and it is about a 45-minute drive from our home in Richmond. The restaurant is owned and run by the Vandegrift family, and the chef at 815 Prime is Nicolas Trueblood, who has previously held the position of chef at some of the most popular restaurants in Lexington, Kentucky. The main floor of the restaurant was originally a hardware store, and it retains its walls of exposed brick and its stamped tin ceiling, which has been painted white. The floor is the original hardwood floor, which has been refinished. The walls of the large room are painted a rust color, and the hold large paintings and pictures. Most tables have white tablecloths with a glass covering. Downstairs is a tavern, which is run by the restaurant, providing a pleasant place for drinks, but also access to the full menu. Rick and I ordered a lot of food--intending to nibble on some of it and bring the rest home for dinner. We ordered Tarragon Chicken Salad Sandwich with home fried potato chips, a BLT with Chipotle Mayonnaise and Monterey Jack Cheese with sweet potato chips, a piece of quiche, and fish and chips. Our dessert was Mocha Truffle Cake. All of the food was delicious! I will be making at least one dish from what we ordered. I hope you enjoy our lunch at 815 Prime in Midway, Kentucky!
