Appetizer Recipe- Pear, Gruyere and Walnut Puffs

Ok, let me just tell you these things are INSANE. Like... crazy good. And not only are they crazy good but they're easy to make. If you want to cut down the time make the pear chutney ahead and the day you are wanting to serve them just assemble and bake. These are the perfect appetizer for the Holiday season.. or any season!

Ingredients

Frozen puff pastry sheet 2 , defrosted (you will only need about 1 1/2 sheets)
Olive oil 1 Tablespoon (as needed)
Shallot 1 , diced
Pear 2 , diced
Brown sugar 2 Tablespoon
Apple cider vinegar 3 Tablespoon
Fresh thyme 1/2 Teaspoon , leaves removed from the stems
Walnut 1 Cup (16 tbs) , toasted and chopped fine
Gruyere cheese 50 Gram , cut in small cubes (1 block ( use as needed))
Egg 1 , beaten
Salt and pepper To Taste

Directions

MAKING

For Pear Chutney:

1.In a pan heat up olive oil over medium-medium high heat.

2.Add the diced shallots and cook until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

3. Once the shallots are cooked add the pears, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and fresh thyme. Stir it together and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let the chutney cool slightly.

4.Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

For Puff:

5.Roll the puff pastry out as thin as you can ( I like to roll it out on parchment! ). Cut the puff pastry in squares.

6.On each square add a piece of cheese, a little scoop of pear chutney, and a sprinkle of walnuts.

7. Fold the puff pastry in half, making a triangle, and press the edges firmly.

8.Add the puffs on a parchment paper lined sheet tray, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with salt pepper and fresh thyme.

9. Let them cook until golden brown about 15-17 minutes.

 

SERVING

10. Serve hot and enjoy!
