Betty's Old Fashioned Scalloped Potatoes

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Old Fashioned Scalloped Potatoes. I have Scalloped Potatoes with Cheese in bettyskitchen, but these are the kind of scalloped potatoes that I grew up with, and Rick and I love them!


Potatoes 1 1/2 Pound , peeled and sliced in 3/8
Salt To Taste
Butter 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , cut into small cubed (1/2 stick)
Parsley 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , chopped finely
Flour 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (as required)
Milk 3 Cup (48 tbs)
Cooking oil spray 1 Dash



1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Grease an 8x12 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside.


3. Arrange the potato slices in a layer on the bottom of the greased dish. Sprinkle salt and little parsley. Put small pieces of butter all over and sprinkle flour on top to cover them lightly and evenly.

4. Repeat this layering with as many layers as possible while leaving more than an inch from the top of the dish (to avoid boiling over). Once the layering is complete pour the milk slowly till it covers the potatoes and is below inch from top of the dish.

5. Cover with aluminium foil and bake for around 1 ½ hour. Just before the last 30 minutes of baking, remove the foil and cook uncovered till the top is light brown and it is bubbling. Remove from the oven and let it sit for few minutes before serving.


6. In a serving plate, serve the scalloped potatoes hot with any meat dish of choice.
