Traditional Porridge with Chia and Maple Syrup

A breakfast of porridge made with steel cut oats will sustain your body and brain throughout the morning and nourish you with nutrients including calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc and antioxidants vitamin E and selenium. Steel cut oats take a long time to cook which is a problem easily solved when you cook them overnight in a slow cooker.


Apple 2 , grated
Steel cut oats 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Water 4 Cup (64 tbs)
Salt 1 Pinch
Cinnamom 1/4 Teaspoon
Maple syrup 1 Tablespoon
Chia seeds 2 Tablespoon
Chopped roasted almonds 2 Tablespoon
Reduced fat milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Flax seed oil 2 Tablespoon



1. In a slow cooker, drop in apple, steel cut oats, cinnamon, water, salt, maple syrup and chia seeds. Cook it overnight at low heat.


2. Give the porridge a stir. Scoop some Porridge in a bowl, garnish with chopped almonds, pour in some milk and flax seed oil and enjoy!
