I wanted to create the best of the best gluten free crust for my apple pie, so I asked my incredible friend, Laurel, from Sweet Laurel Bakery to come over to make her famous Gluten Free Apple Pie for our Thanksgiving celebration. Not only is it mad delicious, but also super easy to make.
For the crust: | ||
Almond flour | 3 Cup (48 tbs) | |
Coconut oil | 3 Tablespoon | |
Maple syrup | 2 Tablespoon | |
Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
For the filling: | ||
Peeled chopped apples | 6 Cup (96 tbs) | |
Coconut oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
Ground cinnamon | 1 Tablespoon | |
Maple syrup | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Arrowroot powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
Vanilla extract | 1 Tablespoon |
GETTING READY:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
MAKING:
In a bowl, combine almond flour, coconut oil, maple syrup, salt and mix well.Roll out as shown in the video.
Place dough into bottom of pie pan.
In a large pot, heat coconut oil and saute apples in it.
Add maple syrup, cinnamon and stir well. Remove from heat.
Add arrowroot powder, vanilla extract and mix well. Allow to cool completely.
Top with pie dough strips as shown in the video and pop into oven.
Bake for 30 minutes.
