Bacon strips/2 tablespoons bacon fat /vegetable oil | 3 , chopped | |
Ground lamb/Beef /turkey | 1 Pound | |
Onion | 1 , diced | |
Garlic | 2 Clove (10 gm) , minced | |
Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
Tomato paste | 1 Tablespoon | |
Dried rosemary | 1/2 Teaspoon , crushed | |
Beef broth/Beer | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Carrots | 2 , cut into half | |
Celery stalks | 1 , sliced | |
Peas | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Shredded sharp cheddar/Swiss chees | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) |
GETTING READY:
Preheat oven to 425°F.
MAKING:
Heat a large skillet and fry bacon pieces until cooked.
Add onions, garlic and cook for 5 minutes or until softened.
Add ground meat and break well. Cook for 5 minutes or until browned.
Add flour and cook for a minute.
Add tomato paste, rosemary, broth, carrots, celery, peas and stir well.
Bring to simmer and cook for 5 minutes or until thickened.
Spread mashed potatoes over the mixture and sprinkle cheese over it.
Pop into oven and bake for 20 minutes until cheese melts.
Once done, allow to cool completely for 10 minutes.
