Here's the real-deal: classic Southern fried pies! You can make these with apple or peach filling.
9 inch pie crust | 1 | |
Granny smith apple | 1 Large , quartered, cored, thinly sliced for 2 cups | |
Butter | 1 Tablespoon , pared, pitted, finely chopped | |
Sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
Ground cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Oil | 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For deep frying) |
MAKING:
1.In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté apple for 2 minutes or until softened.
2.Add sugar, cinnamon and cook for 2 minutes. Turn off heat and allow to cool at room temperature.
3.Roll out dough into thin layer.
4.Cut 3 inch circles and place tablespoonful of filling and fold. Seal and crimp the edges as shown in the video.
5.Heat oil in a frying pan up to 350-365F and fry each pie for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
6.Drain excess oil using paper towels.
