Charles Shapiro's Spicy Potato Pancakes

Russet potatoes 6 , peeled
Onions/2 small ones 1 Large
Matzo meal 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Eggs 2
Pepper 4 Dash (3
Hot sauce 6 Drop
Worcestershire sauce 4 Dash (3
Oil/Chicken fat /both 3 Tablespoon



1. Use a fine processor to grate potatoes. Drain them, if needed.

2. Grate onions finely.


3. In abowl, place the potatoes and onion.

4. Add to it matzo meal, eggs, salt, pepper, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. The seasonings must be added to taste.

5. Mix well until all the lumps are gone.

6. Drop mixture by tablespoonful onto a greased hot skillet.

7. Brown bothe the sides over medium flame. Drain excess oil on paper towels.


8. Serve the pancakes with sour cream and applesauce.
