Growing up one of my first professional food jobs was working at Dairy Queen where I made a ton of onion rings. Want to know how we did it? Check this out.
Onions | 2 Medium (White or yellow onions may be used)
Salt | To Taste | |
For breading the onions
Flour | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (Or as needed)
Milk | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (Or as needed)
Cracker meal | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (Or as needed)
For frying | ||
Vegetable oil | 1 Cup (16 tbs) (For deep frying) |
GETTING READY
1. Peel the onions and slice into 1/4-inch thick rings.
2. Separate the rings and dip each of the rings in flour, then into milk and finally into the cracker meal. Coat the rings well and set aside on a wire rack.
MAKING
3. Preheat oil to about 350 F. When the oil is hot, drop in a couple of the coated onion rings at a time and fry until golden brown.
4. When done, remove from the oil, place of the wire rack and sprinkle some salt over the top.
SERVING
5. Serve hot and enjoy!
