Super crispy onion rings are lightly battered and breaded with Panko bread crumbs before frying to make them extra crispy. You can make the onion ring batter ahead of time and keep it in the fridge until you're ready to make onion rings.
All purpose flour | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Cornstarch | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Cayenne pepper | 1 Pinch | |
Black pepper | To Taste | |
Cold club soda | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Panko bread crumbs | 3 Cup (48 tbs) | |
Sweet onions | 2 Large | |
Vegetable oil | 3 Cup (48 tbs) (For deep frying) | |
Fine salt | To Taste |
MAKING:
In a small bowl, combine cornstarch, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, club soda and mix until smooth. Refrigerate the mixture for 10 minutes.
Heat oil to 350°F.
Spread bread crumbs in a dish/ shallow bowl.
Using fork dip onion rings into batter and breadcrumbs.
Deep fry for 2-3 minutes until it turns golden.
Drain excess oil. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
