Crispy Onion Rings are super easy to make at home and they aren't fried so they're much healthier than fast food, and even more delicious.

Ingredients

Sweet onion 1 Large ((vidalia or maui onion))
Buttermilk 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Salt 2 Teaspoon , divided
Whole wheat breadcrumbs 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Canola oil spray 5 Dash , divided

Directions

GETTING READY

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with canola cooking spray; set aside.

Cut onions into 1/2 inch rounds and separate into rings. Set aside.

MAKING

In a bowl, whisk buttermilk and 1 tsp salt. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, place bread crumbs and add remaining salt.

Dip onion rings in buttermilk mixture, followed by dredging in bread crumbs completely.

Place the onion rings over the prepared baking sheet and lightly spray with canola cooking spray. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning once halfway through, until lightly browned.

SERVING

Serve the onion rings with your choice of condiment.
