A pretty darn authentic recipe for out-of-this-world pork carnitas.

Ingredients

Pork shoulder 6 Pound , cut into chunks
Mexican coco cola 355 Milliliter ((1 bottle or 1
Sea salt To Taste
Orange 1 , slice
Garlic clove 4
Sweetened condensed milk 7 Ounce (Optional)
Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Bay leaf 4
Lard 2 1/2 Pound

Directions

MAKING

1. In a large cast iron Dutch oven, melt and heat lard to 375 degree.

2. Drop meat in it and cook until nice and brown. Keep stirring to avoid sticking at the bottom.

3. Squeeze and add orange slices. Stir and cook for 30 minutes.

4. Turn the heat down to medium and pour water in it. Cook at 220-230 degrees until the water evaporates.

5. Pour coca cola and then add garlic cloves, bay leaves, salt, and condensed milk. Give it a good stir. Cook for 60 minutes or until fork tender.

6. Remove the meat from lard, break them into smaller cubes and brown them in a cast iron skillet.

SERVING

7. Pull the meat and serve hot on corn tortilla with pickled red onion, cheese, avocado slice, cilantro, salsa, and lime juice topping.
