In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Taco Sauce from scratch. This is a refreshing alternative to bottled taco sauce.
Tomato sauce | 8 Ounce | |
Water | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Cider vinegar | 1 Tablespoon (or white vinegar if you prefer) | |
Chili powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Ground cumin | 2 Teaspoon | |
Onion powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Paprika | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Garlic powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Ground red cayenne pepper | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
Brown sugar | 1/2 Teaspoon |
GETTING READY
1. In a small sauce pan, add tomato sauce, water, and cider vinegar. Mix well.
2. Drop chili powder, ground cumin, onion powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, red cayenne pepper, and brown sugar in it. Give it a good stir.
MAKING
3. Place the pan on medium flame and bring it to a boil.
4. Reduce the flame to low and let it simmer for 12-20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool.
5. Into a serving bowl, transfer the sauce. Cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.
SERVING
6. Serve taco sauce cold with tacos or fajitas.
TIPS
You can store the sauce in refrigerator for at least a week.
Serve sauce with tacos, tortilla chips or any other Mexican delicacy.
