Ponche Navideño is a delicious hot fruit punch that can be served with or without alcohol so it's great for kids and adults! Carlos shows me how to make this Mexican ponche recipe!

Water 2 Gallon ((adjust quantity as required))
Dried hibiscus flowers 1 Cup (16 tbs) ((jamaica))
Tejocote fruits 12
Cinnamon sticks 3 Large
Piloncillo cones/1 cup brown sugar 1
Guava fruits 12
Tamarind pods 8
Apples 2
Orange 1
Sugarcane 1
Prunes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Pecans/Almonds 1 Cup (16 tbs)

1.In a pot, boil 1 quart of water and add hibiscus to it. Turn off heat, cove with a lid and allow to steep for 20 minutes.

2.In another pot, bring little water to boil and add tejacote to it. Allow to boil for 8 minutes.

3.Drain water and allow to cool. Peel the skin and set the fruits aside.

4.In a large pot, add 1 gallon of water and strain hibiscus tea into it, discarding flowers.

5.Add cinnamon, piloncillo and bring to boil. Stir well to dissolve sugar.

6.Add guava. Tamarind, apples, orange, sugarcane, prunes, pecans and stir well. Simmer for 20-30 minutes, until apples turn pink.

7.Serve hot with rum or brandy (for adults) and enjoy!
