Tamale Pie - Learn to Cook

You can make this simple casserole called Tamale pie. It has a delicious corn bread topping, and a meat filled center. You can prepare this dish from scratch with a few simple ingredients.


Water 5 Cup (80 tbs) , divided
Corn meal 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Onion 1 , chopped
Ground beef 1 Pound
Chili powder 2 Teaspoon
Garlic powder 1 Teaspoon
Cumin 1 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Canned diced tomato 14 Ounce
Tomato paste 2 Tablespoon



1. Preheat oven to 350F.



2. In a pot, boil 4 cups of water. 

3. In a bowl mix corn meal and a cup of water together.

4. Season the boiling water with salt. Add in the cornmeal mixture, cook stirring until thick.

5. In a pan, brown the ground beef along with onion.Add chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and salt, stir to mix.

6. Add tomato and tomato paste, stir and cook for few minutes.

7. At the bottom of a 9 X13 inch casserole dish, spread half of the corn meal mixture. Now add in the beef mixture and then top with another layer of the cornmeal mixture.

8. Bake at 350F until the crust is crisp.



9. Serve with your choice of beverage.
