Lemon Banbury Turnovers

Ingredients

Lemon juice 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Raisins 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , scalded, drained and chopped
Chopped peeled tart apples 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Chopped walnuts 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Orange marmalade 2 Tablespoon
Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Salt 1/4 Teaspoon
Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
Powdered cloves 1/2 Teaspoon
Powdered ginger 1/2 Teaspoon
Melted butter/Margarine 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Flaky pastry 1

Directions

Combine all ingredients except pastry.

Roll pastry to 1/8" thickness and cut in 4"-squares.

Place squares on a greased or oiled baking sheet.

Place 1 tablesp of the apple mixture on each square.

Dampen edges, with water, then fold each over from corner to corner to form a triangle.

Crimp edges together with a floured fork.

Prick top of each turnover in several places to allow steam to escape.

Brush with top milk, and bake in a hot-oven of 450°F for 20-25 min., or until brown.
