Everyone loves ketchup - and there is none better than the kind you make at home. Here is the basic recipe, and you can dress it up with some hot peppers for extra kick.

Ingredients

Garlic cloves 3 , mince
Onion 1 , diced
Canned chopped tomatoes 28 Ounce (796 mL)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs) (375 ml)
Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs) (250 mL)
White wine vinegar 1 Cup (16 tbs) (250 mL)
Fancy molasses 2 Tablespoon
Salt 1 Tablespoon

Directions

MAKING

1. In a large saucepan on low heat sweat diced onion and garlic for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally making sure that the onion and garlic do not brown.

2. Add tomato, water, sugar, white wine vinegar, molasses, and salt. Turn up the heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling turn the heat down and let it simmer uncovered on low heat for about 2 hours.

3. Remove from heat and let cool.

4. Using a blender or immersion blender, blend the mixture until smooth or to desired consistency.

SERVING

5. Serve with fries and enjoy!
