Matcha Mochi Cakes

These are some tasty green tea cakes that make a delicious snack or dessert. They are moist and chewy with a slightly crispy exterior and not to overly sweet like regular cupcakes. Try them for yourself. You won't be disappointed.


Mochiko rice flour 220 Gram
Matcha powder 5 Gram (green tea)
Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
Eggs 2
Castor sugar 155 Gram
Melted butter 85 Gram
Evaporated milk 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
White sesame seeds 1 Teaspoon (For sprinkling as required)
Black sesame seeds 1 Teaspoon (For sprinkling as required)
For greasing and dusting the cake pan
Butter 1/2 Teaspoon (For greasing)
Flour 1 1/2 Teaspoon (For dusting)



1. Take a cup cake pan, grease and dust it with flour. Shake off the excess flour and set aside.

2. Preheat the oven to 350 F.


2. In a large mixing bowl whisk together 220 grams of mochiko flour, 5 grams of matcha (green tea powder) and a teaspoon of baking powder.

3. Using an electric mixer whisk 2 eggs and castor sugar until light and fluffy. Once the mixture is ready add melted butter and evaporated milk.

4. Then add in the dry ingredients and continue to mix until smooth.

5. Pour the batter into the cup cake pan using about a 1/4 cup per cake. Sprinkle the tops with black and white sesame seeds.

6. In a preheated 350 F oven, bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean. Let the cakes cool and they are ready to serve.


7. Serve the cup cakes on its own.
