How to make sushi rolls. These simple and delicious sushi rolls are vegetarian, but you can put anything you like in yours. The variations are endless.
Sushi rice | 1 Cup (16 tbs) , rinsed | |
Water | 1 1/4 Cup (20 tbs) | |
Rice vinegar | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Sugar | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Nori sheet | 4 |
MAKING
1.In a pot, add in rice with the water. Cover. Bring to boil. Reduce to simmer for 20 minutes.
2.Meanwhile, in a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and salt in the vinegar.
3.When the rice is done, spread onto a platter and mix in the vinegar. Allow to cool to room temperature.
4.Place a sheet of nori on the bamboo mat and spread cup rice, leaving a 1" border along the top. Wet your fingertips to aid in spreading the rice without sticking to your hands.
5.Arrange fillings of your choice in a line down the center of the rice. Roll up tightly.
6.Wet the 1" nori border lightly with water and finish rolling. Set aside, seam side down while you make the rest.
7.Cut each roll into 8 pieces, using a sharp knife and wiping it with a wet towel between each slice.
SERVING
8.Serve with condiments of choice.
NOTES:
To double this recipe: Cook 2 cups sushi rice in 2 cups water. Double the vinegar mixture like this: cup rice vinegar 1 tablespoon sugar teaspoon salt.
