Layered Pizza Dip by Tarla Dalal

The taste buds tingle the moment you imagine layers of pizza sauce and sautéed capsicum topped with cheese and baked in the oven. Indulge in this extravaganza, with a bowlful of tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Blanched and finely chopped tomatoes 1 1/4 Cup (20 tbs)
Olive oil 2 Teaspoon
Finely chopped garlic 1 Teaspoon
Finely chopped onions 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Spring onion greens 2 Tablespoon , finely chopped
Sugar 1 Teaspoon
Tomato ketchup 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Dried oregano 2 Teaspoon
Chilli flakes 2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
For the layer/cover
Capsicum rings 6 , cut into halves (thick)
Dried oregano 1 Teaspoon
Other ingredients
Grated processed cheese 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)

Directions

GETTING READY

FOR THE PIZZA SAUCE

1. In a broad non-stick pan, add olive oil and when hot add garlic. Saute for half a minute and add onions. Sauté the onions for a minute or two until translucent and then add spring onion greens, followed by blanched tomatoes.

2. Cook for a couple of minutes and add sugar and tomato ketchup, followed by oregano, chilli flakes and salt. Cook for a minute while stirring intermittently. Turn off heat.

FOR THE CAPSICUM LAYER

3. In a broad non stick pan, add olive oil, and when hot add capsicum halves and sauté for a minute, before adding oregano. Cook for a minute and turn off heat.

4. Preheat the oven.

MAKING

5. In an oven safe glass bowl, create a layer by evenly spreading already prepared pizza sauce. Now place the prepared capsicum halves over the sauce, and finally top it with cheese.

6. Bake in pre-heated oven at 180 degrees C (360 degrees F) for 8 - 10 minutes until the cheese melts.

SERVING

7. Serve the dip hot with tortilla chips.

TIP

Six large sized tomatoes yield approximately 1¼ cups of blanched, peeled, deseeded, and chopped tomatoes.
