This weekend I tried my hand at homemade pizza on the Grill Dome and I must say WOW! This kamado performed flawless yet again. If you haven't cooked on a Grill Dome Kamado you must get one.

Ingredients

For the crust
Active dry yeast 1/2 Teaspoon
Warm water 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Bread flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Salt 1/4 Teaspoon
Olive oil 1 Teaspoon
For the pizza sauce
Olive oil 2 Tablespoon
Sweet onion 1/2 Medium , diced
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Oregano 1/2 Teaspoon
Black pepper 1/4 Teaspoon
Canned tomatoes 28 Ounce
For the topping
Mozarella cheese 4 Ounce , cut into slices
Basil leaves 3 Medium , torn
Roma tomato 1 Medium , diced

Directions

GETTING READY

1. In a small bowl mix yeast and warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

2. In a larger bowl add the yeast mixture and the rest of the ingredients for the crust and mix well till it forms dough. Transfer onto a floured flat surface and knead for a few minutes or till soft and elastic.

3. Put into a bowl, cover and let it sit for at least 3 hours or till it rises.

MAKING

For The Pizza Sauce

4. In a pan heat oil on medium heat. Add the onions, salt, oregano and pepper and sauté for few minutes or till the onion turns translucent.

5. Add the canned tomato and continue to cook. Cook for another 15 minutes and blend the sauce with a immersion blender. Set aside to cool.

For the Pizza

6. Heat the grill dome to 500- 550 degrees F.

7. After 3 hours, take the dough and roll it on a floured surface. Using a fork prick the pizza base to avoid puffing up. Spread the cooled pizza sauce over it and spread the mozzarella, basil and tomatoes.

8. Place it on a pizza stone and grill for around 9 minutes or till done. Remove from the dome and let it sit for a few minutes before slicing.

SERVING

9. Serve the pizza hot.

TIP

Topping can be anything of choice.
