Betty's Spaghetti and Meatballs with Marinara Sauce

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Spaghetti and Meatballs with Marinara Sauce .

Ingredients

For the meatballs
Extra virgin olive oil 1 Ounce
Onion 1 Large , chopped finely
Garlic 3 Clove (15 gm) , minced
Fresh oregano 2 Tablespoon , chopped finely (dried oregano
Red pepper flakes 1 Pinch (to taste)
White bread slice 2 Medium , crushed to crumbs
Milk 3 Ounce
Fresh parsley 2 Tablespoon , chopped finely (dried parsley
Parmesan cheese 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , finely grated
Pork sausage/Italian sausage 1/2 Pound
Ground beef 1 Pound (85% lean)
Eggs 1 Medium (Optional)
Salt 1 Teaspoon
For the pasta
Cooking oil spray 2 Dash
Spaghetti 1 Pound
Salt 2 Teaspoon (to taste)
For garnish
Parmesan cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs) , finely grated
Fresh parsley 2 Tablespoon , chopped finely
Marinara sauce 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Bettys Sauce)

Directions

GETTING READY

For The Meatballs

1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

2. In a pan heat olive oil till very hot. Add the onions and sauté them till soft and translucent. Add the garlic and continue to sauté till the onions are golden and garlic softens. Season with fresh oregano and red chilli flakes. Mix well, saute for a few minutes and remove from heat. Let it cool completely.

3. In a food processor, put in the bread crumbs and pour milk. Process for few seconds or till they are well combined.

For The Spaghetti

4. In a pot bring water to boil. Season with salt and add the spaghetti. Cook till al dente and drain it into a colander. Set aside.

MAKING

For The Meatballs

5. In a bowl transfer the sautéed onions mixture and bread and milk mixture. Put in fresh parsley, Parmesan cheese, pork sausage, ground beef, salt and egg (if using). With clean hands mix them well till combined evenly. Take small portions and make small balls of the size of a golf ball.

7. Place them on a baking sheet and bake for around 15 minutes or till the meatballs are fully done. Remove from the oven.

8. Transfer them into a pan with the Marinara Sauce and cook for another 15 minutes over medium heat. Stir occasionally.

FINALIZING

9. In a large serving platter pour meatballs in Marinara Sauce generously at the bottom. Spread the spaghetti over it and garnish with parmesan cheese, fresh parsley and more meatballs and Marinara Sauce .

SERVING

10. In a serving plate, serve the pasta hot.
