High Protein Pizza Turnovers

A Pizza turnover is simply a folded pizza and is also popularly called a calzone. It is an interesting concept because it was probably prepared with the aim of carrying is a pizza and enjoying it on the move. Therefore a turnover has all the toppings of a pizza but folded over and sealed so that it becomes easy to handle.

Ingredients

Refrigerated pizza crust dough 10 Ounce
Low sodium pizza sauce 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Carrot 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , shredded
Green onion and tops 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , finely chopped
Low fat low sodium cooked ham slice 24 , chopped
Low fat low sodium mozzarella cheese 1 Ounce , shredded
Low sodium low fat cottage cheese 2 Ounce , crumbled
Red chili flakes 1 Teaspoon (Leveled)
Salt To Taste

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Heat oven to 400ºF. Roll pizza crust dough on lightly floured surface into 12-inch square. Cut dough into four 6-inch squares.

MAKING

2. Spread 1 tablespoon pizza sauce on each square to within 1/2 inch of edges. Top with carrot, green onions, ham slices, and the cottage and mozarella cheeses. Fold each square in half over filling; press edges to seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown. Serve warm.

SERVING

4. This may be served with a favorite dipping sauce and a glass of pomegranate juice.
